Gogglebox star leaves UK for new career and fans couldn’t be prouder



Gogglebox star Simon Minty has shared his inspiring achievement after ditching the UK as he launches a new career.


The Channel 4 star has been competing in the World Dwarf Games in Cologne, where he won bronze for his powerlifting. Sharing his achievement on Instagram, he wrote: “The World Dwarf Games awarded medals for total / cumulative weight lifted, as well as single biggest lift. As I had three successful lifts my total was third best in my category. I got a bronze.

“First pic is me on the podium. Second pic is me with my medal.”

Dozens of fans rushed to congratulate him. One person said: “Well done Simon, pretty impressive!” Another penned: “Well done. You’re a star among mortal men.”

A third said: “Congratulations Simon. Fantastic achievement and making GB proud.”

The competition sees 600 competitors from 27 countries meet for seven days of sports. The 55-year-old, who has dwarfism, has appeared on the Channel 4 show since 2021 alongside his sister Jane.

His humourous jokes and clever insights into the week’s TV shows has made him a firm favourite among fans. Away from the cameras, he works with major corporate organisations in the UK and internationally to assist clients deliver strategic and innovative programmes that improve the recruitment, retention, and promotion of disabled staff and deliver better services to disabled customers.
