Gujarat couple pays Rs 27 lakh for fake work docus for UK, held | Ahmedabad News

A couple from Gujarat was arrested after they were stopped from boarding their flight to the UK for having a ‘skilled worker’ employment visa with a fake graduation certificate submitted to the UK Consulate. Sahar police learned from the couple-Deepkumar Patel (25) and his wife Krupa (22)-that they had paid Rs 27 lakh to an agent in Vadodara who helped them avail a BCom mark sheet from a university in Kolhapur. The graduation mark sheet was submitted to the UK Consulate for the employment visa. However, Patel’s dream of travelling ended when the immigration official sensed something wrong. The couple claimed they had taken a loan and owed money to their family members to pay the agent fees to get the mark sheet and visa. “The team is gathering information about the agent who helped the couple get fake documents,” said a police officer from Sahar police station. The couple was to board Air India flight for the UK on Tuesday. In the complaint, police constable Amarjit Asthana (special branch) said he got suspicious when Krupa said she had passed class 12, but the visa was a skilled worker visa. She said she and her husband would hunt for a job in the UK.
